Obituary of William Schlosser

William “Billâ€? Raymond Schlosser was born February 7, 1940 to George Raymond and Crystal Hartsook Schlosser in Burlington, CO. His family and friends also affectionately referred to him as “Buckyâ€?. On August 23, 2006, Bill passed away at the age of 66. Bill lived all of his life in Kit Carson County. As a young man, he graduated from Burlington High School in 1958. He spent some time skiing in Aspen before attending college at Colorado State University. He was a ski instructor for world-renowned Stein Eriksen prior to moving to Burlington to work for Schlosser Concrete. He began working in the family business in 1957, and for the next 49 years he owned and operated the business with his three brothers. Bill was a member of the Burlington Rotary Club and the Burlington Gun Club. He had many favorite pastimes, including trap shooting and hunting. Bill was an avid golfer and won many of tournaments, including the annual tournament at the prestigious Columbine Country Club. He was a member of the First Christian Church where he was baptized and confirmed as a young man. Bill is preceded in death by his parents. Bill is survived by his daughter Dena Bark and husband Michael of Manhattan Beach, CA; son Chad Schlosser of Denver, CO. Bill, better known as “Papaâ€?, will be missed by his two grandchildren, Ashton William and Christian Michael Bark. Also surviving him are his brothers Tom Schlosser and wife Dee of Burlington, Colorado, Gary Schlosser and wife Dawn Ann of Goodland, Kansas, and Ric Schlosser and wife Jenny of Thornton, Colorado. Memorials may be made in Bill’s name to The Make a Wish Foundation and may be left at the Bank of the West in Burlington. Funeral services for Mr. Schlosser were held on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the First Christian Church with Pastors Ralph Datema and Bill Viergutz officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Fairview Cemetery in Burlington.
