Obituary of Ben Russ

View Video Tribute Benjamin Joseph Russ, age 9 of Kiowa passed away September 22, 2006 in Lakewood, Colorado. Ben was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on November 5, 1996 to George and Kim (Watson) Russ. Ben’s family moved from Pennsylvania in 2002 to the Kiowa area. Ben was involved in many things such as Comanche Creek 4-H Club, “2006 Top Ten All Around Peewee Cowboyâ€? in Little Britches Rodeo Association and Fellowship of Christian Cowboys. Ben was a little cowboy. He enjoyed trail rides and being outdoors. Ben participated in various rodeo events such as riding, roping, steer riding and mutton busting and goat tying. Ben’s passion was to become a bull rider. Ben attended the Bijou Baptist Church and was in the third grade at Kiowa Elementary School in Kiowa. Ben was preceded in death by his great grandmother’s Dorothy Russ, and Dorla Clark. Ben is survived by his parents George and Kim Russ of Kiowa, Colorado. Two sisters Rachel and Amber Russ of Kiowa. Great grandfather George J. Russ of Washington Crossing, PA. Grandparents Bonnie Abney of Irvin, KY, Kathline Watson of Marathon, NY, and David Watson of Myerstown, PA. Uncles and Aunts Carl (Hedi) Schweikhardt of Conroe, TX, Katie (Brian) Bell of Mt. Sterling, KY, Sam (Chelsey) Russ of Lebanon, PA, Deanna (Brian) Wheeler of Marathon, NY, and David (Megan) Watson of St. Petersburg, FL. Cousins Joseph and Isaiah Schweikhardt and Fredrick Bell. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 28, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the Elbert County Exhibit Building in Kiowa, Colorado with Pastor Brian Janes, officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at the Majestic View Baptist Church in Kiowa from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Benjamin Russ Memorial Fund in Care of the Colonial Bank 326 Comanche St. Kiowa, CO 80117, or donations may be made in Ben’s name c/o Bijou Baptist Church of Elbert County 38253 Ridge Road Agate, CO 80101. Private family burial will follow the service.
