Obituary of Judy Hall
View Video Tribute
Judy Lee Hall of Byers, Colorado went home to be with her Lord on October 15, 2006 while surrounded by her family. In May of this year, Judy underwent a life-saving stem cell transplant that cured her leukemia. She was recently faced with complications of surgery related to a bacterial infection.
Judy was born May 31, 1944 in Leavenworth, Kansas to Jesse Victor and Wilma Vernice (Oswald) Daniels. Judy graduated from Powhattan High School in Powhattan, Kansas in 1962. On September 1, 1963 Judy married Fred L. Hall in Powhattan. To this union three children were born. The family moved to Byers, Colorado in 1979.
Judy attended the Strasburg Community Church, where she was active in various Bible studies and ladies groups. She worked for the Arapahoe Library District in Byers, The Byers State Bank and later at Valley Bank and Trust in Strasburg. Judy was secretary of the Byers Cemetery Association and the Deer Trail & East Adams Soil Conservation District.
At a very young age, Judy was taught to sing by her mother. Judy and her sister, Donna entered and won several talent contests, sang duets in church services, and later joined the choir in high school. Once moving to Colorado, Judy continued to sing for various community events, and enjoyed sharing her love of music with the church choir.
For Judy, her grandchildren were everything. From being there at the hospital on the day they were born, to celebrating each and every birthday with them, to watching basketball, volleyball, baseball, and soccer games, it was always about the grandchildren. Many hours were spent sitting in a gymnasium or traveling across the Divide to sit in the grandstands of a ballpark, cheering on her favorite players. Simple fishing trips, a Sunday afternoon meal, and an evening on the deck visiting with her family held a special place in her heart.
Judy had a special way of connecting with people. Her enthusiasm for life could be seen in everything she did. She always greeted friends and co-workers with a smile and loved sharing their lives with them. It would come as no surprise to anyone who knew Judy that even her nurses and doctors found her spirit and positive attitude remarkable. When friends would call to check in on her, they would find Judy turning the conversation to them and their everyday life instead of dwelling on her situation. Her view of friendship can be best described by a prayer that was found in her Bible: âMay today there be peace with you. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be. I believe that friends are quiet angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly.â?
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, one son Lance Hall, and one brother Lanny Daniels.
Judy is survived by her husband Fred Hall of Byers, Colorado. Two daughters Janelle and husband David Turecek and their children Matthew, Renae, and Preston of Deer Trail, Colorado, LaNay and husband David Arcady and their children Austin and Brooke of Grand Junction, Colorado. One sister Donna and husband Gerald Krebs and one brother, Terry and wife, Cheryl Daniels, all of Hiawatha, Kansas. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Sharon Daniels of Hoyt, Kansas.
