Obituary of Dixie Thompson

With her Children by her side, Dixie passed peacefully in her Richardson, Texas home on Monday November 20, 2006. She was 85 years old. Dixie was born to Francis Young Moseley and Ester Christine Lofdahl Moseley on February 25, 1921 at The Keystone Ranch in Lincoln County Colorado. Dixie grew up on a working cattle ranch experiencing a hard however rewarding childhood in the wide open Eastern plains of Colorado. In her late teens, Dixie an accomplished rider moved to Estes Park, Colorado where she guided horseback riding in Estes and nearby Rocky Mountain National Park. In 1941 Dixie attended Comptometer school in Denver, Colorado prior to a move to Long Beach CA where she was employed by the U S Government in the war effort. An ambitious and trusted worker, Dixie achieved high security clearance and was soon transferred to Hickam Field Army Air base in Honolulu , Hawaii where she worked with The Seventh Air Force Signal Corp on classified correspondence to and between High Ranking Military personnel. Returning to the mainland in the mid 40's, Dixie remained in service to the government with similar duties at The Douglas Plant in Tulsa OK. In 1947 Dixie moved to Reno Nevada where she met LT. Mack A. Thompson USNR and was married. Dixie & Mack had two daughters in Reno before transferring to Quanset Point Naval Air Station near Providence RI where a son was born in 1953. After Mack’s return to civilian life Dixie and the family resided in the Chicago suburb of Wheaton IL and then relocated to Denver CO. where Dixie, Mack and the three children spent the next 10 years until they were transferred to Dallas Texas in 1963. Dixie is survived by her two daughters Anita Lynne Rupp, Dixie Lana Lee Corcoran , her son Young Ronald Mack Thompson, granddaughters Jacquelyn Christine Thompson, Kristen Nicole Thompson, Lauren Dixie Lee Thompson and two grandsons, Christopher Francis Corcoran and Jonathan Barrett Moseley Rupp. Funeral services will be held for Dixie 2:00 P.M. Monday November 27, 2006 at the Hugo United Methodist Church in Hugo, Colorado with Rev. Olga Hard officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday November 26, 2006 from 1:00 – 4:00 P.M. at the Love Funeral Home in Limon, Colorado. Love Funeral Home of Limon, CO was in charge of arrangements.
