View Video Tribute Wilbur Fred Nienhuser, 89, of Limon, CO passed away January 2, 2007 at his home north of Limon. Wilbur was born on April 14, 1917 to Fred and Alvina (Gerhardt) Nienhuser, the eldest of three children. Wilbur grew up on the family ranch, attending school in Limon. His entire life was devoted to his passion for ranching, working the land and dealing with the elements. Wilbur married Marshia (Martin) on September 28, 1944, in Goodland, Kansas, and to this union three children were born. Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Don, and an infant child, Bobby. Wilbur is survived by his wife Marshia of Limon; son James and his wife Janet of Limon; daughter Shirley and her husband Bob Little of Helena, Mt; grandchildren Janice and Jessie Nienhuser of Limon; sister Mary Shinn of Lamar, CO and a special sister-in-law Ruth Rendon of Agate, CO. It should be noted that James played the pivotal role in achieving Wilbur’s wish to stay on the family ranch until his death. Thanks to Karen Teeter, Peggy Sue Scott and the many friends who assisted James in this endeavor. A service celebrating his life was held Tuesday, January 8, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church, with Reverends Frank and Linda Hoover officiating. Internment followed at Pershing Memorial Cemetery in Limon. Wilbur will be remembered for his bib overalls, baseball caps, award winning grin, and his amazing ability to be the caretaker of Marshia for the past four years. God Bless Him!
