Obituary of Randal Smithburg

Randal âRandyâ? Alan Smithburg, 49, of Arriba, Colorado passed away on March 22, 2007.
Randy was born on February 12, 1958 in Eads, Colorado to Harold W. and Margaret (Johnson) Smithburg one of five children. He grew up in the Arriba community graduating from Arriba High School in 1976. While in High School Randy was a gifted athlete and enjoyed playing basketball.
Randy married Deanne Schoonover on August 18, 1979. Randy loved the land and enjoyed farming and ranching. Randy and Dee made their home on the family farm/ranch near Arriba.
Randy loved collecting antiques especially Indian artifacts and railroad things. He was a history buff, and loved animals. Randyâs hobbies included fishing and traveling with family.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, one brother David Smithburg, sister, Shirley McCormick and one niece Leslie Wright.
Randy is survived by his wife Deanne of Arriba, CO, sisters; Gloria Wright of Monte Vista, CO and Jan and husband Noah Espinoza of Monte Vista, CO sixteen nieces and nephews, eleven great nieces and nephews, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
A funeral service for Randy will be held Monday, March 26, 2007, 10:00 A.M. at the Arriba Congregational Church in Arriba, Colorado with Pastor Bob Strauch officiating. Burial will follow in the Arriba Cemetery next to his family.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 25, 2007, 3-6 P.M. at the Love Funeral Home in Limon, Colorado.
