Obituary of Ralph Wilks

View Video Tribute Ralph Wilks, 87, of Simla, CO passed away on April 25, 2007 in Colorado Springs, CO. Ralph was born on March 23, 1920 in Verona, MO to Homer Jefferson and Rachel (Gray) Wilks one of five children. He graduated from High School in Verona, MO in 1937. Ralph served his country as an Army Sergeant for 5 years during WWII in Aleutian Islands. Ralph married Audrey Anderson on November 9, 1944 in Salt Lake City, UT and they were blessed with three daughters. Ralph retired from McGraw Edison Service after 34 years of service. He was an engineer for the company which gave Ralph and his wife opportunity to travel the country side. After retiring they moved to Simla in 1984, where Ralph spent time at sporting events for his grandchildren, having coffee with his many friends and telling stories by the hour. Ralph was an active member of the Frank King American Legion Post. Audrey and Ralph moved back to Salt Lake City, UT where they spent until recently moving back to CO. In Utah Ralph volunteered as a tour guide on Antelope Island and worked part time for the Utah Auto Auction. Ralph was a busy man and liked it that way he enjoyed wood working, stain glass and anything with a motor. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and sisters; Jewel Wilks, Jessie Wolf and brother Ray Wilks. Ralph is survived by his wife of 64 years, Audrey Wilks and his daughters; Becky and husband Terry Hasenbalg of Simla, CO, Christine Lindstrom of Fruit Highths, UT, and Laurie Hesse of Nunn, CO. He is also survived by one sister Agnus Ellis of Sheridan, OR, twelve grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
