Obituary of Charles McCaffrey

View Video Tribute Charles "Chuck" Leroy McCaffrey was born December 6, 1954 to Kenneth & Ethel McCaffrey in Flagler, Colorado. He passed away August 26, 2007 at home at the age of 52. Chuck spent his childhood living south of Seibert and graduating from Hi-Plains High School in 1973. In February 1974 Chuck was paralyzed in an accident. He had a hard life, but faced each day with a smile, and never met a stranger. In October 1975, Chuck married Rhonda Reid. To this union, a daughter, Hether was born. They later divorced. Chuck enjoyed shooting pool, fishing, boating, hunting and shooting guns. He was an avid gun collector, collecting anything from a machine gun to a water pistol to a key ring cap gun. But the thing he enjoyed most was running the tractor and the combine on the family farm. All he needed was his dad to lift him up in the cab and away he went. Chuck purchased the Seibert Liquor Store in 1995, and from that time on you never saw Chuck, without seeing his best friend, his dog, Hardtime. On April 15, 2005, Chuck married the love of his life, Marsha Jaquet. They made improvements to the liquor store, with Marsha giving him his own pool table, where many friends and family stopped by to shoot pool and visit. Marsha gave Chuck the will to finally take a vacation, seeing the Royal Gorge, Buffalo Bills Grave, and other tourist sites in Colorado. After extensive stays in the hospital, Chuck spent his finals days at home, with his loving wife Marsha, and family and friends by his side. Now Chuck is in heaven running with Hardtime and no longer bounded by restrictions he's had for the last 33 years. Preceding him in death were both maternal and paternal grandparents. Uncles, Arthur Tubbs, Albert Tubbs, and Darrell McCaffrey and cousin Roger McCaffrey. Leaving to mourn his death is his wife, Marsha, daughter Hether Sutherland and husband, grandchildren Brittney and Riley, parents Kenneth & Ethel McCaffrey, sister Patricia Spencer and husband Richard, brother Kenny McCaffrey and wife Marilyn, sister Marilyn Eastin and husband Mike, sister Pam McCaffrey, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends. Funeral services for Mr. McCaffrey were held on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the Community of Christ Church in Seibert with Elders Tim Schrunk and Lawrence Colby officiating. Burial followed in the Seibert Cemetery in Seibert, Colorado. Memorials may be made in Chuck’s name the Seibert Community Ambulance Service and may be left at the First National Bank in Seibert.
