Obituary of Barbara Hendricks

View Video Tribute Barbara Ann Hendricks, age 68, of Simla, CO passed away at her home on Tuesday, September, 4, 2007. Barbara was born on September 30, 1938 in Horace, Kansas to Simon and Barbara (Lucius) Koehn. She was one of four children. Barbara attended school in Horace, Tribune, Kansas, and Simla, and later went on to graduate from Limon High School in 1956. On February 16, 1957, following high school, Barbara married Ted Hendricks. The couple wed at the EUB Church in Simla, CO. To this union three children were born; Rod, Robert and Robyn. In 1958, the family made their home south of Simla. Ted and Barbara continued to live on the family farm up until the time of Barbara’s passing. Barbara worked as a typist for the Ranchland News in the 1960’s and early 1970’s. In the mid 1970’s, Barbara went to work for the Big Sandy School District, serving as secretary and book keeper until the late 1990’s. She also enjoyed helping her husband with farming and ranching, camping and four-wheeling with the family. Barbara also enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities and was a member of the Matheson Community Church. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Barbara, and one brother, Keith. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ted Hendricks of Simla, CO; sons Rod (Sandy) Hendricks of Colorado Springs, CO and Robert Hendricks and his children, Luke and Chantell, of Simla, CO; daughter Robyn (Jack) Horner of Limon, CO and their children Sandy Horner and finance Francisco Vigil, Jared Horner and Lyssa Horner; brother James (Joyce) Koehn of Limon, CO; and sister Mary Knouse of Miami-Yoder, CO, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service for Barbara will be held at the Big Sandy School in Simla, CO on Friday, September, 7, 2007 at 10:30 AM. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 6 from 1 – 4 PM at the Love Funeral Home in Limon, CO. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Simla Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the National Jewish Hospital Cancer Ward, 1400 Jackson Street, Denver, CO 80206.
