Obituary of John Burgess

View Video Tribute John Charles Burgess, 77, of Limon, Colorado passed away on September 23, 2007. “Chuckâ€? was born on June 18, 1930 in Limon, CO to Merle and Mabel (Huffman) Burgess. Chuck attended a country school, 9 1/2 miles north of Limon through eighth grade. He then attended high school in Limon and graduated in 1948. Chuck drove the school bus his senior year. After graduation he married the love of his life, Blanche Pinello, and made their home north of Limon on the farm. To this union, four children were born. He spent his entire life farming and taking care of his family. He also loved hunting, trap shooting, and going to play Keno. Chuck belonged to the Genoa Lions Club, the Genoa Trap Club, and both the Genoa and Limon Gun Clubs. For several years he was the president and secretary of the Colorado State Trap Shooting Association and was also a member of their selection committee to the Shooting Hall of Fame. Chuck was a member of the Limon United Methodist Church. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and his aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Blanche Burgess of Limon, CO, daughter Phyllis and husband Mike Mellott, their children; London (Keith) Reif of Hoisington, KS, Rebecca (Scott) Ravenkamp of Hugo, Lake (Carol) Mellott of Goodland, KS, daughter Patricia and husband Ted Bandy of Limon their children; Ted (Sherri) Bandy Jr., Jason (Shirelle) Bandy and Kayla Marie Bandy of Limon, CO, son Jay and wife Janel Burgess of Limon, their children Jayson (Jenn) Burgess of Aurora, CO, Jandel (Jason) Kozak of Boulder, CO and Janitel and Janee Burgess of Greeley, CO, and son Merle Lee (Sharon) Burgess of Colorado Springs, and their sons Charlie and Rhett Cole and Hunter John Burgess, and fourteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Donna and husband Don Bender of Colorado Springs, CO, numerous cousins and many friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 25 from 1 to 4 PM at the Love Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 26 at 10:00 AM at the Limon United Methodist Church with Reverends Frank and Linda Hoover officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Walk’s Camp Methodist Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church Stained Glass Window Fund P.O.
