Obituary of Frank Link

View Video Tribute Frank T. Link, Jr. age 84, of Genoa, Colorado passed away on April 26, 2008 in Aurora, Colorado. Junior was born on September 18, 1923 about sixteen miles north of Genoa on his parent’s homestead. He was the oldest of three children born to Frank and Erma (Bartley) Link, Sr. A little country school house called Pioneer School is where Junior started his schooling. It was located just a mile and a quarter from where they lived and he and his siblings had to walk every school day in order to get there. This is the same school that was later moved to the railroad park in Limon where visitors can see the past brought to life during summer celebrations there. Junior only went to school through the ninth grade and then, like many boys his age, he went to work on his family’s farm. Junior’s father was a big believer in work and thought that his children should earn their keep. The first of two loves in Junior’s life was Golda, whom he married in 1958. Before their marriage, Junior started a trucking business with his brother in 1955, hauling the cattle he originally wanted to ranch with. When Golda became crippled with arthritis, the two brothers sold their trucking business and Junior went to work in the shop doing repair work and welding. In 1970, Junior purchased the business, naming it Link Repair Shop. His specialties at the shop were welding and lathe work. Ten years after Golda passed away Junior met and eventually married Orilla Pugh on November 11, 1996. Junior, who had not had any children with Golda, inherited five daughters. Junior’s hobbies mostly included puttering around at the shop, but he also loved to read, especially history books, ride horses and travel throughout the United States, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. He was a member of the Genoa United Methodist Church, serving as board trustee for a number of years, and was also a member of the Genoa Lions Club and Vice President of the Colorado Branch of National League of Post Masters Auxiliary. Junior is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Golda, and one brother, Howard. He is survived by his wife Orilla Link of Genoa, CO; five daughters, Terri (Clint) Flory of Hugo, CO, Deanna Fields of New Port Richey, Florida, Janice Anderson of Genoa, CO, Sharon (Oscar) Franco of Denver, CO and Laura (Jay) Moya of Gilcrest, CO; sister Eleanor Kelly of Lakewood, CO; sister in law Georgia Link of Flagler, CO; as well as seventeen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. A funeral service will be held for F.T. on Thursday, May 01,2008, 2:00 P.M. at the Genoa United Methodist Church in Genoa, CO. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, 1-4 P.M. at the Love Funeral Home, Limon, CO. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association 1280 S. Parker Rd.
