Obituary of Dolores Magnuson

Former Burlington, Colorado resident Dolores Fay Magnuson passed away on July 11, 2008 at the Camellia Care Center in Aurora. She was 78 years old. Dolores was born on May 6, 1930 in Burlington to Elmer and Mary (Thoman) Magnuson. She was the youngest of five daughters. Dolores worked as a bookkeeper in the City Auditor’s office for the City and County of Denver from 1969 through 1980. In 1985 she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Hospitality & Specialized Guest Service from Metro State College in Denver. She then worked in that field in Denver at various hotels, DIA, Elitch Gardens and also did volunteer work for Seniors, Inc. Her hobbies included snow skiing, attending small theatre groups, election judge during election years and of course visiting her nieces & nephews. She also enjoyed watching her Grand-nieces and nephews play their respective sports. Dolores has been a resident of Camellia Care Center for the past 3 ½ years. She was preceded in death by her Father & Mother, Elmer & Mary Magnuson, three sisters; Ilia (Magnuson) Hobgood, Helen (Magnuson) Smelker and Vivian (Magnuson) Stjernholm. She is survived by her sister Violet (Magnuson) Bunch of Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services for Dolores were held on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at the Fairview Cemetery in Burlington with Pastor Tom Peacock officiating. There was no visitation. Friends may go to www.lovefuneralhomes.com to sign the family’s register book and to leave a message of condolence. Funeral services were entrusted to the Love Funeral Home in Burlington.
