View Video Tribute Thomas “Tomâ€? Joe Hilferty, 46, passed away on September 18, 2008 at his home in Limon, CO. Tom was born to Lyle and Wyvonne (Ford) Hilferty on November 26, 1961 in Denver, CO the oldest of six children. Tom grew up in the Limon community attending and graduating from Limon High School in 1980. Tom married Kim Peck in Limon, CO on June 24, 1989 and the couple was blessed with three children; Ethan, Tanner and Abby Hilferty. Tom started driving truck for R& K Trucking working his way up to manager in 1991. He loved his work and was always there to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends. Tom belonged to Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church of Limon. He loved baseball and fishing he was a Boy Scout Leader for troop # 52 for many years and enjoyed the pine derby. Tom was an avid reader of history; especially anything about wars and he loved to watch the history channel. The love of Tom’s life was his family. He was very proud of his kids and their many accomplishments. Tom was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather George Ford, paternal grandparents; Charles and Helen Hilferty, aunt Dona Vasa and two uncles; Gary Day, John Glunz, and Don Gollner. He is survived by his wife Kim Hilferty and their three children; Ethan, Tanner and Abby Hilferty all of Limon, CO, his parents, Lyle and Wyvonne Hilferty of Limon, CO and parents-in-law, Don and Mary Peck of Limon, CO. Tom is also survived by his grandmother Dorothy Ford of Madrid, NE, and his siblings; Tim and wife Jodi Hilferty of Limon, CO, Theresa and husband Jeff Tharp of Holyoke, CO, Trisha and husband Tom Faber of Colorado Springs, CO, Ted and Mindy Hilferty of Quinlan, TX, Tara Hilferty of Tampa, FL and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. A Mass of Christian Burial for Tom will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, 10:00 A.M. at the Limon Public School Christenson/Newsom Activities Center, Limon, CO. Visitation will be held for the public on Monday, September 22, 2008, 1-4 P.M. at the Love Funeral Home in Limon, CO and Rosary will be said Monday, September 22, 2008, 7:30 P.M. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father George Fagan officiating. The Tom Hilferty Memorial Fund has been established in care of Eastern Colorado Bank P.O. Box 549 Limon, CO 80828.
