Obituary of Marietta Thatcher

Longtime Kit Carson County resident Marietta Opal Thatcher, age 73, died Sunday September 21, 2008 at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington, CO. Marietta was born in Plano, Iowa on June 10, 1935 to Charles and Marie(Trimble) Seals. She was a homemaker, a member of the United Methodist Church and the M.S. Society. On December 7, 1952, She was united in Marriage to Vay Thatcher in Holyoke, CO. To this union four children were born, Sherry, Terry, Shonny and Trudy. Preceding Marietta in death were her parents and three sisters; Dorothy Tinkler, Charlotte Huffor and Ramona Smith. She is survived by her loving husband Vay of their home in Siebert, CO and her children Sherry McBride of Burlington, Co, Terry Thatcher and his wife Jo of Goodland, KS, Shonny Marz and her husband Ed of Lakewood, CO and Trudy Mullis and her husband Carl of Burlington. Also surviving are her grand children and great grandchildren; Kyle Thatcher and his wife Mona and their children Tori and Montana, Sabrina Caines and her husband Peter and their children Catherine and Rebekah, Heather Secrist and her husband Kevin Whittiker and their children Kendall, Alex and Brayland, Sonya Martinez and her children Marissa and Cameron, Julie Secrist and her daughter Kirsten, Clinton Mullis and his wife Paula and their children Kenna and Logan and Jesse Mullis and his fiancée Stephanie. Marietta is also survived by one sister Reva Trumper and her husband Alfred of Marion, Iowa, and many nieces, nephews and many special friends. Funeral services for Marietta will be Wednesday, September 24 at 10:00 AM at Love Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial will follow in the Holyoke Memorial Park in Holyoke, CO. Pastor Travis Blake officiating. A community visitation will be Tuesday September 23 at Love Funeral Home in Burlington from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A memorial fund has been established at the First National Bank in Burlington in her name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
