Longtime Stratton, Colorado resident, Kathy Maebelle (Monroe) Woller went home to be with the Lord on October 5, 2008 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was 53 years old.
Kathy was born on December 3, 1954 to Everett (Mick) and Olive (Isabelle Eastin) Monroe. She was the middle child of three. She attended school at Vona Elementary and Hi Plains High School. She graduated in 1973. She also took classes from Adams State College, and Morgan Community College. She received her EMT certification in 1992. She was also a member of the Kit Carson County Sheriffâs Reserve.
Kathy was raised on the family farm north of Vona until she married Carlton Woller, Jr. better known as Ace, July 23, 1972. To this union, three children were an added blessing: Fredrick Henry, Alma Jean and Justin Roy.
Kathy was always involved in the lives of her children. She was a room mother for all of her kids, a den mother and leader for the boy scouts, a sponsor for many elementary trips and high school band trips.
During her lifetime she held many jobs from working at a little café in Vona when she was only in the 6th grade, being an EMT, cleaning rooms at the local motel, putting in many hours at the different convenience stores in town, being a substitute teacher at school and enjoying the time at the âIce Cream Placeâ? (Her grandkids called it that).
Happiest times for Kathy was when her family was all together for birthdays, holidays and special days in their lives. Her grandchildren were special to her.
Preceding her in death are her parents and one sister-in-law Sharon Trimm.
Left to cherish the many memories are her husband of 36 years, Ace; her children Fred Woller and his wife Kim of Stratton, Jeanie Tracy and her husband Brian, and Justin Woller and wife Rylana all of Burlington; her grandchildren, Cody and Brooke Woller and Bryttnie Yoes of Stratton and Hunter and Kaitlyn Tracy and Hayden Woller of Burlington. She also leaves one brother Bud Monroe and wife Sherry and one sister Karen Monroe of Stratton, mother and father-in-law Wilma and Carl Woller of Vona, brother-in-laws Stan Woller of Stratton and Roy Trimm if Cabot, Arkansas, sister-in-laws Cathleen Woller, Susan Eden (Ed) and Nona Woller of Stratton. There are also many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends she has left behind.
Funeral services for Kathy were held on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the Stratton Activities Center with Pastor Dustin Sells officiating. Burial followed in the Vona Cemetery.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 07, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Love Funeral Home in Burlington.
Memorials may be made in Kathyâs name to the Stratton Church of God, Kit Carson County Cattlewomenâs Association (Pink Chaps Fund) or to Caring Hands Hospice and may be left at the East Colorado Bank and Trust in Stratton.
