Linda Gail Williams, beloved wife of Troy Williams, mother of Teresa Williams Luther and Brenda Williams Bailey, passed away at her home on April 2, 2009 after a five year battle with cancer and of Muscular Dystrophy.
Linda, known as Gail to her family and friends was born on August 7, 1950 to Adie Lee and Chloe Bell Clayton in DeQueen, Arkansas. While Gail was still an infant, her family moved to Happy, Texas. They resided in Happy where Gail attended grade school. They then moved to Tulia, Texas. In June of 1960, Gail was baptized at Full Gospel Mission Church in Tulia. Gail spent her junior high and high school years in Tulia. Gail loved living in Texas, and she left many good friends there when she moved to Burlington in 1967.
Gail met Troy while living in Burlington. Troy said he knew he wanted to marry Gail the first time he saw her. They were married on October 27, 1968 at her sister Patâs home in Earth, Texas. Troy left soon after they were married to serve in the Army. He was stationed in Korea. When Troy returned from Korea, he and Gail resumed living their lives together, living in Bethune, Colorado for the entire 40 years of their marriage.
Gail loved children and always wanted a family of her own. In August of 1975, she and Troy adopted two beautiful little girls, Teresa Gail and Brenda Lee. This turned into another 35-year love affair for Gail. She enjoyed being a mother, watching her girls grow up and become mothers themselves. With this came the true delights of her life, her grandchildren; Jacob, Torrie, Alyssa, Jennifer, Amanda, Joey and Kaylee.
Gail had a big part in helping raiser her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed caring for them so much, that when they grew older and no longer needed baby-sitting; she opened a daycare in her home. She truly enjoyed the children she cared for and treated them as her own. Those children have all grown now and started lives and families of their own, but every one of them kept in touch with Gail through the years. To many of them, she was like a second mom.
Gail was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be sincerely missed. She was preceded in death by her mother Chloe Bell and father Adie Lee Clayton. Brothers A.L. Clayton, 56, Jimmy Clayton, 62, Ben Clayton, 62. Sisters Jo Marek, 54, Clara Carver, 61, and Father-in-Law Bob Williams. She is survived by her husband Troy, children Teresa and husband Rick Luther, Brenda and husband Greg Bailey, son-in-law Tim Richardson, her grandchildren, mother-in-law Louise Williams.
