Obituary of Allie Iseman
On May 31, 1915, Allie Jean Beck Iseman was born to Lewis and Anna Bliss (Clark) Beck on Lewâs homestead south of Stratton. She had two older sisters, Marian Weddel and Belle Danforth. In the Summer of 1919, Lew sold his homestead and moved into Stratton, Colorado. They lived there for many years and Doris Englebreck, Lewis Beck, Jr., Clark Beck, Leon Beck and Joyce Beck Clark were born.
Allie Jean, as she was called, attended Stratton Public Schools and graduated in 1933. She attended Barnes Business School for a short time and had various bookkeeping jobs until July 5, 1935, when she married Clarence Iseman.
The newlyweds lived in Souix Falls, South Dakota where Clarence worked for an uncle in his tire shop. They moved to Colorado Springs in the summer of 1936 and Clarence got a job as a carpenterâs helper. In 1940, the European war had caused a great boom in the construction business. There were new barracks and war plants being built all over this part of the country so Clarence joined the Carpenters Union and he and Allie started traveling from one job to another, first Cheyenne Wyoming then Denver, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Las Vegas, Nevada.
They were in Las Vegas living in a tent when Pearl Harbor was attacked. Allie told about sitting on a blanket with several other wives listening to the radio when it was reported. In August 1942, Clarence was drafted into the United States Navy, and was honorably discharged in 1946.
While Clarence was away, Allie lived in Colorado Springs and worked at a machine shop making and assembling small fuses for the Army. In the spring of 1946 they moved to their farm south of Stratton. They spent many years farming in the summer and spending their winters in Colorado Springs. In July 1994, Clarence passed away and Allie was left alone. She lived in her home until 2003 when she moved to the Legacy Assisted Living in Burlington. In January 2009 she moved to the Grace Manor Care Center in Burlington, until her passing on June 19, 2009.
She leaves to mourn her passing, three sisters-in-law; Nadine Beck, Maxine Chandler, and Ellen Iseman. One brother-in-law Gene Clark, plus many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
