Obituary of Renata Martynienko

Marta Renata Martynienko, age 83 passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2009 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Renata was born September 17, 1925 in Bochum, Germany to Albert Herman Karl Fritz Ludwig and Bertha Maria Theresia Hellman. Renata married Theodor Martynenko on February 17, 1949 in Munich, Germany. Following their marriage the couple moved to the United States. Renata graduated high school in Germany. Once in America she continued her education at University of Tampa obtaining a BS in Chemistry and minors in Biology and Mathematics in 1960. She later obtained her Masters in Library Science from UCLA in 1969. Renata worked for 30 years as a Librarian at the Los Angeles Public Library. Renata was a member of St. Constantine’s & Helen Orthodox Church in Colorado Springs, CO. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed needle work, fine arts, and various crafts. She loved classical music her garden and animals. Renata was active in supporting various animal shelters. Renata was preceded in death by her parents, husband and an infant daughter Ruth. Renata is survived by her children Olga Sonnenburg of Colorado Springs, CO and Illya Linder of Colorado Springs, CO. Panikhida will be held Monday, August 10, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Holy Dormition Orthodox Church North of Calhan, CO. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Holy Dormition Orthodox Church North of Calhan, CO with Father’s Lawrence Gaudreau and Anthony Karbo, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorials are suggested to the ASPCA 424 East 92nd Street New York, NY 10128, Protection of The Holy Virgin Orthodox Monastery for Women, P.O.
