Obituary of Virginia Geesen

Virginia Mae Geesen passed away on December 21, 2015. Virginia was born on April 5, 1925 in Marcaline, Missouri to Charles E. and Vola O. McNeil. Virginia married E.A. “Mick” Geesen February 21, 1950 at St. Patrick’s Church in Washington, DC. They were happily married for 45 years. When Ginney met Mick, she was employed by Continental Airlines as a flight attendant. They made their home in Agate, Colorado at the Geesen Ranch, farming and ranching. Ginney was a caring loving wife, mother, granny and friend. She cooked the most amazing meals for the family and ranch hands every day. Each holiday there was a family tradition. The most memorable was St. Patrick’s Day. Ginney was Irish and everything she made and served was green. Ginney served and loved her Catholic church. On June 17, 1965 a flood on East Bijou Creek wiped out the ranch’s headquarters, equipment and cattle. The family persevered and rebuilt. The Geesen Family was the first family to breed Limousin Cattle on the North American Continent. Ginney was a member of the North American Limousin Foundation and the Elbert County Cowbelles. Ginney was Mick’s wife and “good will ambassador” during his service on the board of directors with Mountain View Electric Association of Limon, CO, Tri-State G & T, and Western United Electric Supply Coop. They traveled all over the United States representing and hosting for these entities. Over the years Ginney received numerous recognition awards for service. Virginia is survived by four children; Edward J. Geesen and wife Nancy of Aurora, CO, Ruth A. Geesen Fiorentini of Italy, Patricia M. Allushuski and husband Ron of Pittsboro, N.C., Michael A.
