Obituary of William R. Boetger

View Video Tribute William Ralph Boetger of Denver, CO passed away on September 4, 2009 in Denver. He was 53 years old. Bill was born on May 3, 1956 in Flagler, CO to Gordon and Letha Boetger of Hugo, CO. He attended Hugo schools, where he participated in football and wrestling, graduating in 1974. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Marine Corp where he became a Water Safety and Survival Instructor in 1975. He served on the USS Midway at the Japanese port of Yokosuka, and participated in operations off the coast of North Korea in 1975. In 1977, he became a certified U.S. Navy Diver, graduating at the top of his class at the U.S. Naval Facility in Subic Bay, Philippines. He spent a total of 6 years in the Marine Corps. Later, he attended the College of Oceaneering in Los Angeles where he studied and trained as a Commercial Oilfleld Diver/Inspector. Bill always loved the water, and spent much of his life living near the ocean. Bill loved swimming, diving, fishing, camping, riding motorcycles and music. He was learning to play the guitar. And he proudly wore an Orange Crush tee-shirt on the streets of L.A. during his time at Camp Pendleton. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Letha Boetger and a brother Lloyd. He is survived by his sister Charlene of Aurora; niece Krista (Cory) Wraalstad and their children Sarah and Hunter; nephews Brad Dykes, Nick Bradley and his son Blake. Also surviving are aunts, uncles and extended family. A memorial service will be held at Love Funeral Home in Limon on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Hugo, CO.
