Obituary of Harvey Dine

Harvey Eugene Dine, age 96 of Bague Chitto, MS passed away February 1, 2006 at the Regency Place Nursing Home in Baton Rouge, LA. Harvey was born July 14, 1909 in Flagler Colorado to Benjamin Franklin and Alta Elvira (Holden) Dine. He was the last of four children. Harvey married Mabel Taylor on July 1, 1934 in Ordway, Colorado. To this union three children were born. Harvey and Mable farmed and ranched North of Flagler and drove a school bus. Mabel passed away March 5, 1964. On September 19, 1976 Harvey married Doris Smith. They spent the summers working on the ranch near Flagler and went south for the winters in Louisiana until 1986 when they retired to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Harvey was the oldest member of the Seventh- day Adventist Church in Baton Rouge. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Mabel, one brother Alfonzo, two sisters Pauline and Emma, one granddaughter Deanne and a daughter-in-law Wanda. Harvey is survived by his wife Doris of Bogue Chitto, MS. One son Frank Dine of Flagler, CO. Two daughters Jane and husband Dean James of Ft. Morgan, CO, and Myrtle and husband Jack McKay of Canterbury, NH. Two stepsons Stanley and wife Ruby Smith of Benton, Arkansas; Myron and wife Velia Smith of Honolulu, Hawaii. One step-daughter Claudia and husband Carlos Salcedo of Baton Rouge, LA. Sister -in-law Fae Dine of Thornton, CO. Twelve grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, twelve step grandchildren, thirteen step great grandchildren, two step great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, February 6, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at the Flagler Baptist Church with Pastor Cory Wetterlin officiating. Burial followed in the Flagler Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Donor’s Choice.
